In the beginning, Lacie wanted everyone to like her. She was obsessed with it and would change herself to get 5 stars. She thought it would bring her happiness to be well-liked. After she was a high four she would be happy but she didn’t find happiness until she went to jail I think. The trunk driver opened her eyes that likes are not the only thing in life.
Social media dictates social stature because when you get a lot of follows people tend to know who you are. You become popular and people want to talk about you. You might get good or bad press, but it is still press. It gets your name out there. People want to be popular on social media. Social media creates internet stars. Being an internet star seems more attainable than other celebrities. Internet stars tend to be more relatable and I think that’s why they are so popular.
Social media has a hold on us because people only showing the highlights. It makes you think that everyone’s life is perfect no matter how much you know its fake. It can be hard to remember that people don’t show bad times on social media often. Most people want to show/remember happy times. It creates a hold because you don’t want to present the best version of yourself to the world and that can be a lie. You might edit your photos or even have a photo smiling even though you were crying an hour ago.
